Build and Defend Your Raft How to Protect Your Loot

Hide the glow, close the only door, and never farm with the hatch open.

How to Protect Loot

The Roblox description says it in one line: defenses keep your loot safe, and other players will steal it. How to protect is not the same as how to win a fight. It is where the chest sits, who holds the door, and what you refuse to carry into the water.

Combat pieces live on how to defend and the defense tier list. This page is the loot tax. If you came here from a search for “how to protect” or “how to keep my chest,” stay. If you wanted cannon angles, switch pages.

The chest is the whole game

Put storage in the core, one tile in, not on the lip. Official art glows the crate on purpose so you can see bad builders from the water. If you can see your chest from a swim-up, so can they.

One door. Not three. Not a pretty gap for screenshots. A second opening is a second raid. A window that looks like flavor is a climb point. If you can emote through it, a raider can too.

The Crafting Table is loot too. If it sits on the edge, a boarder freezes your rebuild. Park it next to the chest room on a plated tile. A stolen hour is not only the crate. It is the upgrade path you cannot print while the table is in the ocean.

Do not line chests along the rail “so I can grab them fast.” Fast for you is fast for them. One room. One glow. Walls around that glow before you add a second box.

Door discipline

Close it before you look at the ocean. Close it before you AFK. Close it before you raid. Open it from the inside when you return. Solos who “just peek” donate more crates than cannons save. Crews assign an anchor. If nobody claims the door, nobody leaves.

The loot checklist is this paragraph as boxes. Tick it until it is muscle. A closed door with an empty core is still better than a cannon roof over an open pallet. Cannons do not matter if the box is already gone.

Practice the return: swim, climb, close, dump. In that order. Players who dump first with the hatch open are writing a tutorial for the person behind them. Players who close, then emote, then dump are still open too long. Close is the first verb.

AFK is a raid invitation

Eighteen-player servers do not pause because you grabbed a drink. An open pallet with a glowing box is a tutorial for someone else. If you must AFK, you need a closed ring, spikes if you have them, and no chest visible from the water. Scripts that “guard” while you are gone are report magnets. Fair AFK is a closed door or logging out.

A “quick shop” tab-out is still AFK. So is standing at the table with the door open while you answer a message. If the lobby is loud, log out. Your wood is still there next session. It is not still there after a two-minute board.

Do not advertise a full crate in chat. Do not drop a screenshot of your core. Public flexes are waypoints. Protecting loot includes not drawing a map to it.

What you carry is what you can lose

Protecting loot includes not walking it into a fight. Raid loadouts are light for a reason. Your last plate stack stays home. Your only gun stays home if you cannot replace it. A wipe on their lip with a full bag is how you un-protect everything you farmed in how to get resources.

Dump before you swim. Always. A “I will dump on the way back” plan assumes you live. You will not always live. The bag you take is the tax you pre-pay.

If you are solo, your body is also a chest. Die in the water with plates and you donated a rebuild. Die on their deck with the hatch open at home and you donated two. The loot checklist exists so you do not argue with adrenaline.

Cosmetics are not armor

Palms, flags, and umbrellas do not hold a crate. Spend wood on the ring first. If a code ever lands, it goes into walls, not a matching chair set. What codes give repeats that because people ignore it.

Hour-100 rafts in videos look rich because the power pieces already exist. Copying the palm first copies the screenshot, not the keep. A pretty boat with a glowing lip crate is the easiest raid in the lobby.

After a board

Stop placing lanterns. Face the door or the hole. If the chest is still yours, stay between the raider and the box. If they already have it, cut the exit, then repair before you chase into the ocean. A second swimmer loves a hole you left to chase the first. Rebuild with how to build and walk the ring after every Saturday patch.

Do not scream in chat. Chat is time. Time is a second crate. Call the hole to your crew in as few words as you can, then stand on it. After they leave, count boxes before you count kills. A “we got him” with an empty core is a loss.

If the table survived and the chest did not, you can still reprint. If both are gone, you are on hour one again. That is painful and normal. Follow Getting Started instead of diving at the person who just beat you.

Layouts that leak loot

A long dock is a hallway to your crate. A maze is a place you get lost while they leave. Rank shapes on raft layouts. Compact squares protect loot because you can see every lip from the middle. Huge pretty boats protect screenshots, not chests.

Traps that require you to remember a secret jump also require you to remember it during a panic. You will fail that test. Simple rooms win. One door, one core, one ladder that does not drop a guest onto the box.

After a Saturday patch, walk the ring before you AFK. A missing plate is a new door you did not authorize. Rebuild that tile before you farm resources again.

Protecting loot is boring on purpose. Boring rings still have chests when the loud lobby logs off. That is the whole skill: hide the glow, own the hatch, and refuse to carry the farm into a fight you did not need.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for raft builders and raiders.

How do I protect loot in Build and Defend Your Raft?

Chest in the core, one closed door, table off the lip, and no AFK on an open pallet. Cannons come after that box exists.

Should I chase raiders?

Repair the hole first. Chasing often donates a second chest. See how to defend.

Is a huge raft safer?

Only if every extra tile is walled. Most mega decks leak. Rank shapes on raft layouts.

Can a script guard my chest while I AFK?

Treat that as a report magnet. Fair AFK is a closed ring or logging out. See scripts.
