Build and Defend Your Raft Solo Versus Crew
Eighteen-player servers reward a closed door more than a pile of unassigned friends.
Build and Defend Your Raft is online. Servers hold 18. You can play alone or with a pile of avatars who all want to print a palm. This page is the job chart. Pair it with raid loadouts and how to defend.
Solo rules
You rotate three jobs: builder, anchor, raider. Never two at once.
- Hour one: builder only. Getting Started and how to build.
- When the ring is closed: you may raid with a light kit. Door shut. Loot checklist green.
- If you hear a landing while you are in the water, you already lost the bet. That is why solos raid less, not more.
Solos should prefer S-tier layouts — compact, one door, no maze. A mega deck is a crew toy.
Crew jobs
Treasurer. Owns the Crafting Table. Everyone else drops wood. Nobody else prints palms.
Anchor. Door and guns. Does not raid. The boring hero.
Raider. Light or break kit. Comes home, dumps, does not keep souvenir guns in the bag.
Builder. Expands float and plates while the raider is out. Stops the second the ladder rattles.
Four people all raiding is zero people at the door. That crew is a loot piñata. Assign the anchor before you assign a raid target.
Voice versus silence
If you have no voice chat, type the job in the Roblox chat once. “I am door.” That is enough. If nobody claims door, you do not leave.
Sharing a raft versus neighboring rafts
Some lobbies will let friends build on one hull. Some will spawn separate boats. If you are on separate boats, you are not a crew, you are a pact. Pact rules: do not steal from each other, call out swimmers, still close your own door. A pact that raids together and leaves both doors open is two wipes.
Codes and crews
One person redeems. Wood goes to the shared table. If three people each want a flag, nobody gets plates. What codes give is the spend order even in a party.
When to kick someone (from the plan, not the platform)
If a friend keeps opening the door to “just peek,” they are the raid. Park them on gather duty around the hull or play solo. The game already has enough boarders.
Scripts in a crew
One person with a flashing GUI gets the whole boat screenshot-reported. If anyone must run auto harpoon, hide it and keep kill auras off. Fair crews skip injectors and use the raft priority tool instead.
After a wipe
Rebuild the square together. Do not split into four decorative rafts “for fun” in a spicy lobby. Fun is a closed chest. Recheck Saturday patches if recipes changed while you were arguing.
Food, wood, and who touches storage
Crew wipes often start with two people opening the same chest. One person is storage. Everyone else asks. If that sounds childish, good — it is also how you still have plates after a loud ten minutes. Solos already are the storage person. They just forget when they come back from a raid with adrenaline and dump crates on the lip “for a second.” Dump inside. Close the door. Then look at the crate.
If your crew cannot agree on storage, you do not have a crew. You have four solos sharing a hull. Play the solo rules instead and stop blaming the game.
Map pressure
Eighteen players means several rafts. You will not raid all of them. Solos pick one pallet. Crews pick one pallet while the anchor watches home. A crew that splits to three targets is three half-raids and an open door. Read how to raid as a group once, then stop arguing in the water.
Solo is slower and safer if you are disciplined. Crew is faster and louder if someone actually sits on the door. Pick one and write it down in chat. The lobby will not wait while you decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for raft builders and raiders.
Can I play Build and Defend Your Raft solo?
Yes. Stay compact, close the door, and raid less often than a crew.
What is the most important crew role?
The anchor on the door. Without it, every raid is a donation.
Should the whole crew raid at once?
No. Leave at least one person on the ring. Four raiders is zero defense.
