Build and Defend Your Raft Gear and Tools Tier List
Upgrade the table first. Everything you want to hold or steal is gated there.
Gear in Build and Defend Your Raft is gated by the Crafting Table. Until Raft Pirates publish a named catalog, this list ranks tool jobs: gather, build, fight, raid. It will not invent a legendary sword.
Read this with Getting Started and raid loadouts. Defense pieces have their own page: defenses.
S tier
Crafting Table upgrades. The only true S. Better gear does not exist until this moves.
A gather tool (harpoon / boom). Official hour-100 rafts show a fishing boom. Scripts already target auto-harpoon loot. That is a signal: pulling crates is core. Hotbar it. See auto harpoon if you insist on a paste, or just click like a human.
Storage chests. Not flashy. If you die with a full bag, the raid was for someone else.
A tier
Starter fight tool. You need something on slot two when a boarder lands. It does not have to be pretty. It has to exist. Controls tell you to stop scrolling past flags.
Cannon / turret pieces once the ring is closed. They are weapons and defenses. Ranked A here because they spend a lot of table time you might still need for walls.
B tier
Second gather tool or longer boom. Nice when the hull is already safe. Light raid kit. Empty bag, cheap melee, no furniture. Details on how to raid.
C tier
Cosmetic tools and placeables. Palms, umbrellas, face flags. Hour-100 vibes. Zero steal protection. Duplicate guns on every corner before you have plates. Looks scary, leaks anyway.
F tier
Whatever a random Discord called “OP code gear.” If it is not in the Shop or the table, it is a script or a scam. Real codes go in the Shop. Fake gear sites want your password.
Spend rules
Wood goes table → walls → gather → guns → pretty. That is also raft priority. A code bundle follows the same list (what codes give).
Crews should not let four people print four boom copies while the door is a hole. One quartermaster. Solo versus crew.
After patches
A Saturday drop can shuffle which job sits behind which tier. Screenshot the table. If cannons moved up a gate, they are still A, they just cost more time. Log it on Saturday patches. This page will rename rows when names are real.
Hotbar versus storage
S-tier gear that sits in a chest during a board is not S-tier anymore. Put gather and fight on the bar. Put extra guns in storage behind the ring. If you die in the water with three cannons in the bag, you funded someone else’s raid loadout.
The same rule applies to a future code bundle. A resource pile in the backpack is a loot pinata. Dump it into the table, then into walls, then close the door. What codes give is the spend list; this page is why the gun you wanted is still B until the ring exists.
If a YouTuber ranks twenty guns this week, ask whether they are playing this place or a different raft title. Confirm the Raft Pirates header before you rebuild your whole hotbar.
A gather tool you never put on the bar might as well be locked. After every table upgrade, open the list, take the new job, and put it on a slot you can tap while swimming. That thirty-second habit beats a pretty screenshot of guns you dropped in the ocean.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for raft builders and raiders.
What should I craft first?
The next Crafting Table tier, then walls, then a gather tool. Guns after the ring exists.
Is the harpoon worth it?
Yes. Water loot is the fair grind. Keep it on the hotbar even if you never touch a script.
Why no named legendary list?
The public catalog is still thin. We rank jobs so the list stays honest after Saturday patches.
